Elderly woman in serious condition after Eastbourne crash

The 88-year-old woman involved in yesterday's crash in Eastbourne town centre is in a serious but stable condition in hospital.

The accident happened at around 3.15pm close to the back of Debenhams in Lismore Road.

The woman and a white Citroen Berlingo van collided near the pedestrian crossing linking the Terminus Road precinct.

She suffered serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, where she is in a serious but stable condition.

The van driver, a 44-year-old man from Hailsham, was unhurt.

Police now want to speak to anyone who may have seen the accident.

Anyone who saw what happened is asked to email [email protected] or phone 101, quoting Operation Cosham.
