Election hopefuls for Arun

Five candidates are vying to represent an area of Felpham on Arun District Council.

The list of hopefuls is contesting one of the two Felpham West seats on the council. Polling will take place on April 2.

Those seeking residents' votes are: Martin Lury (Liberal Democrats), Gillian Madeley (Conservative), Joan Phillips (UK Independence Party), Michelle White (Labour) and Michael Witchell (British National Party).

The vacancy has been caused by the death of Conservative councillor Alan Stainton last December. He died aged 61 from non-Hodgkin's lymphoma having been a district councillor since May 1995.

At the last election, in May 2007, he topped the polling of the five candidates with 810 votes.
