ELECTION: Support slumps but Tories hold Rustington

CONSERVATIVE councillor Graham Tyler saw his vote collapse but he managed to his retain Rustington seat.

Four years ago he had one of the biggest majorities on the county council, winning by a margin of almost 2,000 votes.

But today’s (Friday, May 3) result saw UKIP’s Janet Penn come within 357 votes of Mr Tyler’s 1,560 total, which was down from 2,962 in 2009.

Labour’s Tony Dines was third, with 340 votes and there was another poor showing for the Liberal Democrats as Val Capon came bottom of the poll with 295 votes.
