Sixteen year old Katie Scotcher, from Bexhill, suffers from the life-threatening disease cystic fibrosis and is living on 36% lung function and is oxygen dependant at night. She has to spend weeks at a time in hospital.

Katie was successful in getting a grant for a summerhouse, to allow her her own space, from the charity Rays of Sunshine. But the budget only covered constructions and not electrical fittings.

Katie needs to have lighting and a fridge to store medication.

Luckily the kind-hearted electricians came to her rescue.

Electricans Chris Mathews, Chris Lamour, Jon Waters, Shane Avery and Jamie Kelley fitted power points for Kate’s oxygen machine and installed lights.

All the materials were donated by Harry Bates, Account Manager of the Eastbourne branch of City Electrical Contractors. £100 of decorating vouchers were also donated by local contractors Booker & Best courtesy of Brewers Decorators Merchants. All this now means the work will soon be completed and Kate can use her summer house just in time for summer.

The electricians are employed by CDS electrical contractors of Eastbourne.

Kate said the summer house means the world to her and will give her back some independence and have a space that she can call her own.
