Liam Russell Architects Ltd has unveiled the ambitious plans for the old NatWest building in Cooden Sea Road.

The plans show the ground floor will maintain some retail space, with nine flats spread out across the first, second and third floors of the extended building.

The plans also feature two semi-detached ‘eco-cottages’, which would be built behind the flats.

The planning application, submitted to Rother District Council, includes 11 car parking spaces and 18 cycle parking spaces.

Liam Russell Architects Ltd added that a ‘daylight, sunlight and overshadowing study’ is currently being undertaken.

This will be presented to Rother at a later date.

NatWest closed its doors to customers for the final time on July 25, 2014.

The move was branded ‘appalling’ by furious residents and traders.

Since the closure, the building has remained empty, and has been branded ‘an eyesore’.

Residents are currently being invited to have their say on the plans by either writing to Rother District Council or via the local authority’s website.

Rother District Council’s planning committee will make a decision on the plans at a later date.
