Three people have been freed from the silver vehicle and are being treated by paramedics at the scene, a spokeswoman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue said.

Mike Rixon, 25, of Apple Tree Walk, Climping, drove past the scene.

He said traffic was slow but moving at a steady pace past the incident site.

Speaking to this paper, he said: “The car has proper left the road. It looks like it has jumped the grass verge and is halfway in a tree.”

One fire crew from Arundel was called to the incident.

However, they were not needed to free any casualties and are currently helping to clear the road and make the scene safe.
