Emily, aged seven, was inspired by the story of another little girl, back in July, who also donated her hair to Little Princess Trust and a poorly friend who has suffered hair loss.

The Little Princess Trust provides real hair wigs to boys and girls across the UK and Ireland that have sadly lost their own hair through cancer treatment, and relies on donations of hair.

Emily also decided to try and raise money for local charity, Charity for Kids as a friend of the family is involved with the charity and will be climbing mount Kilimanjaro next week to raise much needed funds for local sick and disabled children.

Mum Emma said: “I am pleased and proud of her. She is a naturally kind girl and has been saying for a couple of moths she wants to do this.

“Emily attends Ark Little Ridge Primary Academy who have been very supportive of Emily’s decision and praised her for her kindness and generosity, especially during a difficult time finding out her grandad had a brain tumour which was later removed.

“When I asked her before the cut if she would miss her hair she replied ‘no’ so I asked her why and she replied ‘because it’s going to charity’.

“She is an amazing little girl and I want the world to know how proud I am of her.”

So far Emily’s efforts have raised £450 for Charity For Kids through her Facebook appeal and Just Giving page online.

The Little Princess Trust was launched in 2006 by the parents and friends of Hannah Tarplee, who died in 2005 after being diagnosed with having a Wilms tumour.

Charity for Kids was established in 2011 to provide help for disabled, sick and terminally ill children and their families across Hastings and Rother. You can learn more about Charity For Kids and their Kilimanjaro challenge at www. charityforkids.co.uk.
