THE ENCHANTING tale of the Pied Piper from Hamelin was acted out in a fantastic musical staged by youngsters at a primary school in Hailsham.
‘The Piper’ was performed by Years 3 and 4 for the whole school, followed by two performances for parents, carers and school governors at Hawkes Farm Primary School.
It involved beautiful melodies and catchy rhythms for all ages to enjoy.
The original Pied Piper legend is believed to come from Germany in the Middle Ages. It is thought that the story arose after the tragic deaths of many children in the town of Hamelin from some kind of plague - hence the famous references to rats in later interpretations of the traditional story.
