Energy company apologises after power cut closes Chichester businesses

Scottish and Southern Energy apologised for the ‘annoyance and inconvenience’ caused after Chichester city centre businesses had to close for the day because of a power cut.

Swarovski and Fat Face in East Street had to close on Monday following the power cut.

Businesses in East Street, Chichester, have been suffering problems since Saturday (June 6), according to city centre manager Charlotte Wickins.

A spokesman from the power company said: “It’s a fault in an underground cable. It’s affecting about 20 different properties. We’ve been trying to keep people up to date as much as we can.

“We would like to apologise for any annoyance or inconvenience this has caused and we’re doing everything we possibly can to get the power back on as quickly and as safely as possible.
