Environment Agency issues flood warnings in East Sussex

Flood warnings have been issued by the Environment Agency for sections of the rivers Cuckmere, Ouse and Uck,

Properties near the Cuckmere River and Bull River at Hellingly and Horsebridge including Mill Lane, Station Road and the A271 at Lower Horsebridge are at risk of flooding.

It has also issued a flood warning for the River Ouse at Barcombe Mills, including the Anchor Gates.

A further flood warning was issued for the River Uck at Buxted between Parsonage Wood and the High Street including the Old Mill area.

Property flooding was expected overnight at Buxted and property is still at risk in the area.

The Environment Agency said Sussex rivers had responded to the rainfall that fell last night, with more rain to fall today.

Levels are expected to increase and remain high in the Cuckmere catchment and at Barcombe Mills.

Flooding to property near the rivers is expected.

Almost 30mm of rain has fallen over the area in the last 12 hours.

The highest total was seen at Ardingly in West Sussex. which received 50mm.

Flood warnings are issued where flooding is expected.
