Confusion about waste collections

Residents in some areas of the district say they still have not received any publicity about the paid for garden waste collections due to start in June.

From June anyone who has not signed up to the £29 a year service with Horsham District Council (HDC) will not have their brown-lidded bin collected, but some people in Storrington and Broadbridge Heath have told the County Times they had not received the Horsham District News magazine or leaflets enabling them to sign up by post.

The magazine is distributed by Royal Mail unaddressed mail and more than 12,000 household have already signed up. Cabinet member for the environment Andrew Baldwin said: “I am very pleased with the way the roll out of the green waste scheme is going. We set ourselves a target of 20,000 households signing up this year and we are well on the way to reaching this. I remain confident that this will be achieved.”

To sign up, residents can call 01403 739459 or go to http://www.horsham.gov.uk/environment/15595.aspx
