Development plans revealed for 75 homes on village field

A property developer has revealed its plans to build 75 homes in Storrington amid an air quality crisis in the village.

Residents attended the exhibition at The White Horse Hotel last Friday to see Crest Nicholson’s plans to develop 75 homes on Water Lane.

A member of Save Our Storrington (SOS) Phil Tapsfield attended the event.

He said: “We’re extremely uneasy about it. It’s another development plan for a greenfield site and Storrington is in a state of crisis.

Local campaigner for the village and UKIP candidate, Peter Westrip, stated in a recent presentation that nitrogen dioxide levels are 39 per cent above recommended safety levels caused by more than 20,000 traffic movements through Storrington every day.

However, Horsham District Council have expressed a need for more homes in the area.

A spokesperson for Crest Nicholson Eastern said: “We are planning to build about 75 new homes in Storrington. The proposed development predominantly consists of houses, plus a number of apartments. The event and the plans proved very popular with 158 people joining us over the afternoon and evening.”
