Farm Diary by Gwyn Jones, Ocober 13

An Indian summer-no less. Wnderful weather makes autumn seem like an extension of summer, indeed I value this weather more, and because it makes life so much easier and more pleasurable.

Cows are calving lying down, although they are almost all in the calving paddock now, as we approach the end. This week is going to be very nice for them, and I hope the weather keeps going a little longer so that we can calve as much as possible.

A bumper crop of maize, 4000 tonnes in the clamp, averaging not far from 20 tonnes per acre.

See this week's WSG for full feature.
