Haywards Heath residents shown plans for new water mains

Haywards Heath residents living in the College Road area were shown detailed plans for the replacement of old and unreliable water mains on Wednesday (December 4).

Residents were shown the plans at a drop-in session hosted by South East Water engineers.

Jeremy Dufour, project manager for South East Water, said: “This project is a vital part of our investment to upgrade the water network for Haywards Heath, helping to minimise leaks and ensure a resilient supply of water for the community into the future.”Roads involved are College Road, Sunte Close, Wickham Way, Old Wickham Lane, Wickham Close, Penland Road and Mill Green Road.

Construction starts in early January in College Road and Sunte Close with College Road closed in phases and a diversion route approved by East Sussex Highways in place.

The project is expected to take almost a year to complete, and access to residential properties and businesses will be maintained throughout the scheme.
