This is a ‘monolith’ ... and it could become a familiar feature on the streets of Lewes.
It bears a map to guide visitors and is being proposed as an improvement to the county town’s signage.
Lewes could have five monoliths – sited at the railway station, the war memorial, opposite the High Street lawcourts, in the Cliffe Precinct and opposite the bus station.
They are part of the Lewes Steps Forward initiative by East Sussex County Council, which has developed proposals for a number of transport schemes in the town to improve conditions for pedestrians and cyclists. The public can view the plans at a three-day exhibition. Full story – Page 7.
