Normally we just leave poultry out to chill in the old milking parlour but an unusual range of visitors had left John rather more security-conscious than usual.

Just before Christmas there seemed to be a stream of decrepit old vans and pick-ups coming into the yard and asking if we had any scrap to sell.

I can only assume that these folk have some problems with reading, as bold notices on both gates state that visitors can only come into the yard by appointment or arrangement.

Notwithstanding the argument for domestic/business security, there is also the constant concern over bio-security.

If these old vans are travelling from one farm to another, they would be prime conduits for bringing disease in.
