Mrs Down's Diary

It is great. A brilliant example of what can be achieved with waste pallets. The sort that goes under sacks of feed, building materials, that sort of thing.

The scheme started off apparently when John was offered some pallets to make stack bars from for lambing. He likes to put each newly lambed sheep and lambs in a separate pen for a day or two to mother up, so that they are firmly bonded before going out into the field. Once he had said he would like a few pallets, he was offered a lorry full. Some of the timber was broken but the majority of the pallets were constructed of sturdy lengths of wood that would otherwise just be disposed of. He saved the good timber and decided to build me a sort of summerhouse down by the pond, as my incessant bleating that it would be nice to have somewhere sheltered to sit has finally worn him down.
