Exciting plans are in the pipeline for two riverside developments in Lewes.

They are on the east and west banks of the River Ouse – at Falcon Wharf and at Timberyard Lane.

The Falcon Wharf scheme, off Railway Lane, seeks to demolish the existing two-storey commercial building between Vipers Wharf and Stricklands Warehouse and replace it with a terrace of seven homes.

Approval was given to the planning application in August 2012, and the latest is a revision to design.

A spokesperson for Jeary Devlopments said: “The approved scheme for Falcon Wharf was very well received by Lewes District Council planning committee, Lewes Town Council and the Friends of Lewes. However the mix of commercial and residential useage made the scheme unfundable.

“The modified scheme will enable future purchasers to use the ground floor in a more flexible way, whilst retaining all the popular elements of the approved scheme. The amended scheme has already received support from local people.”

They added: “As part of the transformation of this area Jeary Developments will make a significant investment in improvements to the river wall and flood defences.”
