Petition plea for A272 crossing for Chailey and Newick residents

On behalf of residents in Chailey and Newick, local District Councillors Sharon Davy and Jim Sheppard presented a petition of 288 names asking that East Sussex County Council, with the support of Sussex Police Traffic Management, considers a safer crossing solution on the A272.

The councillors said the fact the county council had found funding for warning signs was a small success “but a step in the right direction”. The main problem is the 50mph stretch linking the villages, sandwiched between a 30mph limit at The King’s Head and 40mph approaching Newick.
