Prize incentive to recycle during national Recycle Week

To celebrate this year’s Recycle Week, the company which manages the county’s waste recycling sites, is offering residents the chance to win £100 in vouchers.

Viridor, who operate and manage the 11 HWRS on behalf on West Sussex County Council, is offering one lucky resident a chance to win £100 in vouchers by simply taking their broken or unwanted small electrical item to their local site for recycling during Recycle Week this week (June 16 to 23).

The definition of small electrical – to use the technical term, small WEEE or Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment – includes anything handheld with a plug or batteries for power.

That ranges from a kettle or toaster to a radio or CD player, from hairdryers to curling tongs and even an electric toothbrush or power drill.

It’s easy to enter – just take your small electrical item to one of the 11 HWRS, ask a member staff for an entry form and hand a completed form back to them for a chance to enter a prize draw for £100 in vouchers.

Russ Ellcome, Viridor’s operations manager, said: “Recycling unwanted and broken small electrical items at one of our household waste recycling sites is easy and there are lots that can be recycled.

“Hopefully this competition will encourage householders to recycle their small WEEE in the right way and also someone will benefit from £100 worth of high-street vouchers. Good luck everyone.”
