Arun District Council worked closely in partnership with LDA Design to create an enhancement scheme as part of the east bank of the river, major flood defence scheme.

The waterfront has been transformed into an attractive and unified public realm which sensitively integrates the flood defences.

A newly widened river edge walkway incorporates the necessary changes in levels, with retaining walls, steps and planted slopes.

LDA Design has now been appointed to extend the public realm improvements to the Seafront Green.

This regeneration will create an attractive new destination, and residents and visitors will enjoy a new cyclical route between the town centre and the seafront.

Cllr Terence Chapman, cabinet member for Environmental Services said “I am delighted to see this excellent scheme and flood defence work gaining recognition.

“It is just over a year since the completion of the works and the feedback we have received has been very positive. You only have to visit to see the increased number of people enjoying the area.

“I am now looking forward to the proposals that LDA Design will produce for the enhancements to the seafront green.”
