Springwatch invite at nature reserve

With the BBC’s ever-popular Springwatch series back on our screens, the RSPB is preparing to welcome visitors to a special Springwatch event at their West Sussex nature reserve from Friday Sunday 3-5 June.

RSPB Spokesperson, Samantha Stokes, said: “You have watched the antics of Britain’s amazing wildlife on the BBC’s Springwatch programme, now come along to Pulborough Brooks and experience it for yourself!

“There are so many gorgeous things to see at this time of year. Springwatch at Pulborough Brooks is a superb opportunity to discover many of our special wildlife stars for themselves, from lapwings and shelducks with cute fluffy babies to tiny butterflies flitting along the hedgerows, or dragonflies darting around the ponds and the stunning views across the South Downs.”

This year, the reserve will be running two special ‘Springwatch – After Dark’ events (Friday 3 & Saturday 4), when staff and volunteers will be searching for some of the site’s exciting nocturnal creatures, including the elusive nightjar. Back to the daytime and there will be a mix of drop in activities on the Saturday and Sunday, including a Spring Themed Family Trail (11am – 3pm) to test your wildlife knowledge; pond dipping (11am – 1pm) where you can discover what lurks under the surface of our ponds; and for those looking to take things at a more leisurely pace, there will be a guided walk (1 – 3pm) with RSPB voluntary guides for a closer look at the reserve’s seasonal delights.
