Etchingham

Colin Boylett, 2 Park Farm Close

A lot of people visited the display of old photos and postcards in the Church during the Flower Show, and the Fete in July, I had a lot of good comments and several suggestions to put the display on again sometime in the future. So, unless anything comes up that makes it difficult to use the Church space I am planning to put on a similar display next year at the Fete and again at the Flower Show.

The displays will be built around my collection of old photos, postcards and memorabilia, with other items added. As we will be in the last year of the school in the old building I would like to put together a display on the Fete day of items relating to the history of the school. I will be wanting to borrow any items that you or members of your family have from days at Etchingham school, this can be photos, documents, school reports, old newspaper articles or historic items.

It takes time to put together a display, so I need to start gathering items now, I can borrow paper items such as photos and documents now and make copies and give you back the originals, for more bulky items such as books and other items difficult to copy you can show me what you have, I can list who has what and collect from you a few days before the display.

The main thing is to let me know what you can loan as soon as possible, this gives me plenty of time to work out how many items I have available and how much space I need

Some of the display from the Flower Show day is still on show in the Church, and will remain there for a few more days, so you can go in to the Church any day 11am to 4pm to take a look, also on display are the group photos taken at the Jubilee Picnic last year, you can order 12” x 8” copies of the pictures, I have now placed an order for prints of the pictures, but if you have not ordered a copy if you let me know which you want I will get them printed as soon as possible. Payment with your order would be appreciated if possible, but if you want to email your order I can collect payment when I deliver the prints, there are three different pictures so please make sure you correctly identify the picture(s) you want.

Get information for this column to me as soon as possible, if you have a diary of events planned for the year let me have the dates and I will put in a list of village events for the year so that people can put the dates in their diaries. There are several ways to get your info to me, but email is preferred because there is less chance of errors during copying. I need information by 10pm on Monday to be sure it will be in time for inclusion, I can sometimes add extra items on Tuesday morning, but this cannot be guaranteed. Just a little reminder, I get plenty of information about events that are taking place, but I get very little follow up information, after your event try and remember to send me brief account of how successful your event was, it can be as simple as a thank you to those that attended and how much money was raised etc. You can deliver to 2 Park Farm Close, telephone 01580 819532 or 07941 786244 or email [email protected].
