The new village website www.etchinghamvillage.co.uk has now been running for a few months, and has received a few comments regarding content etc. one regular visitor to the site said it is useful because agendas, minutes and updates from Parish Council are appearing as soon as available, which is one of the main purposes of the site. He asked if there was a way to notify people when new content is put on the website, as people would not be accessing the site frequently just to see if anything had been added, the suggestion was that most people monitor their email regularly so perhaps an email could be sent out to those interested with a notification.

Not wanting to have another email list to maintain, I dismissed that idea, and decided not to clutter up the regular e-bulletin with a lot of posts about new content on the website. I would guess that a large proportion of the people visiting the Etchingham Village website will also have a Facebook account, so a Facebook page has been set up connected to the website http://www.facebook.com/EtchinghamWebsitepage , anyone who wants to be notified when new content is added to the website just needs to ‘Like’ the page, when important new content is added brief details will be posted on the Facebook page with a link to the information on the site, you will then get notification in your Facebook Newsfeed. It has been suggested that there might be some confusion between this new page and the Etchingham Village page http://www.facebook.com/EtchinghamVillagePage which has been operating for over two years and is the place to put details of village events and organisations etc., please continues to place your information on that page, this new page is solely for users of the Etchingham Village website to be kept up to date with new content, and to comment on the site content if they wish. The email address for website comments is [email protected] , or use the contact link on the Home Page.

Etchingham Church continues to arrange a weekly services on most Sundays, any alterations will be notified in the village e-bulletin and on the notice board outside the Church. Sunday Services have returned to 11am. Children’s services will continue on the second Sunday. If you have ideas about how the popularity of the Church and services can be improved, contact a Churchwarden.

The Church is now open to visitors every day from 11am to 4pm. If you have any queries regarding the Church contact the Churchwardens Mary Barnes 01580 819142 or Geoffry Lucas 01580 819439.

Get information for this column to me as soon as possible, if you have a diary of events planned for the year let me have the dates and I will put in a list of village events for the year so that people can put the dates in their diaries. There are several ways to get your info to me, but email is preferred because there is less chance of errors during copying. I need information by 10pm on Monday to be sure it will be in time for inclusion, I can sometimes add extra items on Tuesday morning, but this cannot be guaranteed. Just a little reminder, I get plenty of information about events that are taking place, but I get very little follow up information, after your event try and remember to send me brief account of how successful your event was, it can be as simple as a thank you to those that attended and how much money was raised etc. You can deliver to 2 Park Farm Close, telephone 01580 819532 or 07941 786244 or email [email protected]
