Etchingham village voice

Etchingham Improvements Committee held the Jubilee Wood planting event in the Croft Field last Saturday (February 25).

In celebration of the Queen’s Diamond jubilee, the Improvements Committee were successful in being awarded 450 free trees from the Woodland Trust to enable us to plant our own Etchingham Jubilee Wood.

There was a steady flow of village residents to the field eager to plant the trees they had reserved.

The weather was kind to us, so many of the tree planters stayed on for tea and cakes and a chat with friends and neighbours, with the tea tent doing brisk business.

Those who planted trees attached a tag to the supporting stake so that they can be easily identified later, it is planned to produce a map with everyone’s trees located, many people paid for a plaque to be added to their tree, these will be added later.

A lot of photographs were taken during the day, I have placed the pictures I took into a set at Flickr, they can be viewed at http://www.flickr.com/photos/ttelyob/sets/72157629452011237/

Frank Brophy has also added his pictures to Flickr at http://www.flickr.com/photos/frank37b/sets/72157629093380158/ .

If you want to copy any of the pictures from Flickr open the picture to be copied, just above the picture click on ‘Actions’ then select ‘View all sizes’ you can then decide what size you want and click on the ‘Download’ link to copy the picture to your computer .

All of my pictures were uploaded full size, so if you select ‘Original’ you will get the best resolution available, Frank needed to slightly reduce the file size before uploading, so if you find the best available is not good enough, contact Frank and he can email the original to you.

There are several ways to get your info to me, but email is preferred because there is less chance of errors during copying. I need information by 10pm on Monday to be sure it will be in time for inclusion, I can sometimes add extra items on Tuesday morning, but this cannot be guaranteed.

Just a little reminder, I get plenty of information about events that are taking place, but I get very little follow up information, after your event try and remember to send me brief account of how successful your event was, it can be as simple as a thank you to those that attended and how much money was raised etc.

You can deliver to 2 Park Farm Close, telephone 01580 819532 or 07941 786244 or email [email protected]
