Ewhurst Green, Cripps Corner and Staplecross village voice

Tomorrow evening (Saturday) Ewhurst and Staplecross Bonfire Society will be holding the ever popular Beetle Drive to be held at the village hall at 6.30pm. Always a good fun evening; should you require supper then please book beforehand to Marion Brown 01580-765764. Entry is £2 (£1 for children).

Members of U3A Battle and District meet on Monday (May 14) at Battle Memorial Hall when Avril Wallace is the guest speaker with her talk entitled “Nymans Gardens, History and the Messel family”.

On Tuesday evening the Village Hall Committee meets and welcomes local residents to attend, and maybe contribute, to the proceedings.

The Luncheon Club meets as usual at the village hall at 1230 on Wednesday to enjoy a delicious meal and good company.

Thursday sees the monthly meeting of the Ewhurst, Staplecross and Bodiam Garden Society at 7.30pm in the village hall. This month’s speaker is Mr K Tooher who will be talking about the beautiful clematis plants which are currently thinking of blooming in our gardens. Non-members always welcome. As always, there will be refreshments, a plant stall, book/video stall and a raffle.

Those partaking in exercise will note that Line Dancing for mainly beginners on Monday in the Church Room at 6pm, Pilates continues on Tuesday at 5pm in the village hall, with chair based extend/exercise to music on Wednesday afternoons in the Church Room, Northiam Road, at 3.15pm (with refreshments and social time to follow) and on Thursday it is Yoga in the village hall at 5.30pm, followed on Friday, again at the Church Room, Helen Day’s Line Dancing for those not such beginners. Five days a week exercises available in Staplecross!
