Roy Chuter, former landlord of the Duke of Wellington, in Brighton Road, Shoreham, died following the incident, at East Worthing station on July 31.

The emphasis was on positivity, according to friend and current landlord of the Duke of Wellington, Brodie Dawson.

He said: “It was a superb send-off, and everybody was very upbeat. Everything was positive about it.

“As far as funerals go, it was one of the best you could every go to. And, of course, Roy would have wanted it like that.”

A number of tributes to Mr Chuter were read, alongside a poem and photographic memories.

The service ended with a rendition of Sussex by the Sea, by Horsham Borough Band.
