DELIGHTED YEAR 11 students at Chailey School are celebrating achieving excellent GCSE results – the second highest in the school’s 53-year history.
Staff said 70 per cent of students gained five or more A* - C passes, including English and Mathematics.
Overall, the five A*-C pass rate was 78 per cent.
Headteacher Lesley Young said: “These superb results show our young people fulfilling their potential through hard work, excellent teaching and support from staff and, of course, tremendous back-up from parents and carers.
“Whatever people may say about young people’s achievements it is important to note that these students really earned their results. They made full use of the support on offer, attending lunchtime, after-school and holiday revision sessions – and, of course, attending school regularly.
“As an inclusive school we are also delighted to see that 92 per cent of the students achieved at least one C grade; 98 per cent achieved five or more A*-G grades and 100 per cent achieved one or more A*-G grades.
“I am absolutely delighted to see their efforts and the dedication of the staff rewarded in this way and look forward to celebrating with them at Presentation Evening in November.
“In the meantime, they take our very best wishes with them into further education, training and employment.”
