Broadcaster John Henty and photographer Tom Reeves have teamed up to create a unique celebration of all things collectable.

Their exhibition ‘Viva Collecting’ opens at the Edward Reeves Gallery in Lewes High Street on Saturday, June 14, and continues on June 15, 19, 20 and 21 between 11am and 5pm.

Visitors will be able to see 20 unusual objects from John’s zany collections including a brick from The Cavern in Liverpool – birthplace of The Beatles – and a working What The Butler Saw machine which was formerly on Brighton’s Palace Pier.

A stunning display of photographs of Lewes and Lewes people by Edward Reeves Photography will enhance the free exhibition.

John and Tom will also be giving talks about their diverse collections in St Michael’s Church Hall, High Street, Lewes, during the course of the exhibition.

Tom presents newly researched archive material on Saturday, June 14, and John offers a fun run from Max Miller – the ‘Cheeky Chappie’ from Brighton who was renowned for his risqué jokes – to Bugs Bunny on Friday, June 20. The talks begin at 7.30pm on both nights and tickets are £6 for one talk and £10 for both.

Telephone 01273 473274 for the limited number of seats available.

Elsewhere, Anna Vlasova is giving a talk about the Marit and Hans Rausing collection of 18th century Russian publications in the London Library. It’s taking place at the Friends Meeting House in Friars Walk, Lewes, on Monday, June 9, from 7.30pm until 9pm. Admission is £3.
