Exhibition will shine light on chic area of St Leonards

THERE will be a chance to view and acquire dazzling and desirable objects when a three day exhibition gets underway today (Friday) at the Baker Mamonova Gallery at Norman Road, St Leonards.

Upmarket brings together some of the best designers and makers in the south with high quality pieces such as lighting, glass, ceramics, jewellery, fashion, furniture, and interior items.

On show will be a wealth of richly detailed, unusual and distinctive items ranging from beautiful and intricate lampshades to distinctive leather upholstered furniture.

Among those showing are interior designer Melissa White who paints fabrics and fresco secco panels and designs fabrics and wallpapers for top UK fabric houses.

Also showing is Jo McAllister who uses stone-age tools in the fashioning of striking contemporary precious metal jewellery.

Something or Other source appealing old, neglected objects and pieces of furniture and turn them into something new and unique. Almost every item they create is original.

Jackie Summerfield’s ceramic sculptures are all individually hand crafted with portrait busts and wildlife forming the bulk of her output..

There are a number of satellite events connected to Upmarket and close to the gallery, including a music night at Miki’s Bar, at Marina, on Saturday and music, poetry and film at the Kave Gallery in Kings Road.

Upmarket runs from 11am - 6pm on the Friday and Saturday and 11am - 4pm on Sunday.
