Extra places for the popular Poppy Run

BEXHILL'S third Poppy Half-Marathon, being run on Remembrance Sunday, November 14, this week added 50 charity places for would-be participants after all main slots sold out.

The 13.1 mile event is run over four laps on a largely dead flat course, starting by the Polegrove and heading out along the seafront before looping back through the park. Some local roads will be closed and diversions set up during the event to ensure the safety of runners.

The 2010 Poppy Half Marathon has been organised by Bexhill Runners in conjunction with Team Lifestyle Sports Events, and is part of the Bexhill Runners’ series that also incorporateds five and 10 kilometre events.

As well as testing athletic prowess, the event aims to support past, present and future armed forces personnel, with proceeds donated to the Royal British Legion. Runners are reminded to collect their race number and timing chip from the registratiohn marquee in good time on the day.

Finishers will receive a special commemorative medal, while race T-shirts can be bought for £4. Entry fees are £30 per person.
