Extra support and help for carers across Bognor Regis is on hand

CARERS who look after the ill, frail or disabled in the Bognor Regis area have been seeking extra support.

The Arun Wellbeing team is working with two local carers support services which are running free drop-in information sessions for carers in Bognor Regis and Littlehampton.

The carers support services which cover Worthing, Bognor Regis, Chichester and surrounding areas have held their first session at the Littlehampton Civic Centre.

Arun’s cabinet member for housing and community care, Roger Elkins, said: “The responsibility of looking after someone else means many carers often miss out on things the rest of us take for granted.

“This could be something as everyday as going out for the evening or getting a full night’s sleep. These drop-ins are extremely important in helping carers can access the advice and support they need.”

Sessions are due to continue running in Littlehampton from 2pm-4pm on the fourth Wednesday of each month and in Bognor Regis Town Hall on the second Monday of each month between 10am-3pm.

A wide range of information will be available.

Staff have links with health and social care professionals who may be able to provide equipment and adaptations to help people remain independent at home.
