Falmer

LADIES GROUP: Falmer Ladies Group always meet in January to write up their programme for the coming year and 2017 looks to be a very time beginning on February 14 with Bakula demonstrating and cooking some Indian delights for us to try. This is always a popular subject and we look forward to tasting Bakula's delights.

FALMER POND: After this very cold spell, but bright beautiful days, the Falmer pond is slowly freezing over. It’s comical to see the ducks and geese paddling across the ice. I did see parents holding on to children and sliding them on the ice at the very edge of the pond and that was fun for them, but not so funny to watch other children trying to walk across the ice. Parents really should be more aware of what their children are doing before it is too late. I heard a story of a goose at the weekend that seemed to have its leg trapped in the ice, it was freed by the wildlife charity and hopefully will remain free.

A&E: We were listening to Sussex Radio one early morning recently and heard of one man complaining about being left on a trolley, I am not sure for how long, but to counter balance this story we know of someone else who was taken to A&E very recently and they had nothing but praise for them working in very difficult times. This person, yes, he was on a trolley, but as he said the trolley bed was not uncomfortable and they never left him alone for long always checking him. The only disturbing thing he saw were a group of people with someone who needed care, but had by-passed the main reception and wandered onto the A&E area before being checked in, and were very demanding. I do wish both sides of stories were put on air, it is important to give the carers in the Health Service our support.
