Falmer

ART AND SOUL: Artwave Lewes Art Festival 2016 is well worth a visit. The seated sculpture tethered in the pond greets all visitors including the seagulls, completely unaware of the beauty of the sculpture they perch on the head and knees. The paintings in the church and the Parish Hall are a delight as is the glass work, specialist textile cushions, the silver jewellery, the pottery and much more. One piece particularly took my eye, a black cat sitting so very proudly with a glazed pottery white and blue coat, it was intriguing. Falmer is always a special place to visit but with this exhibition on display it makes an even more interesting venue.

STORIES, POEMS AND SONGS: As part of the Art and Soul on Sunday September 4 at 11am in the Parish Hall, Ed Boxall invites you to join him for an enchanting selection of his stories, poems and songs. There will be gentle stories, crazy poems, jump about songs and some journeys to faraway islands. All are welcome but just right for children aged 3 to 11 years old. Such fun and imaginative ideas, will take the ideas home to develop further. Just long enough session. It sounds magical, come and find out.

BUSES: The Pokémon craze seems to have quietened down a little, the first week I was forever bumping into people engrossed in their phones and found it particularly comical when I was told by two searchers that they had found two Pokémon’s on our wonderful new ramp. They must have been extremely frustrated to find they could not catch a bus there. It is good to hear that the chairman of the parish council is in conversation with the bus company, about buses stopping at the bus stop at the end of the ramp, with little good news for the present, but positive news for the future. Everyone is now looking at the Highways England to come up with answers for the people in Falmer, and too for the bus company.
