MUSIC: We enjoyed the latest in our St Laurence concert series last Saturday. The performers were the University of Brighton Community Choir, directed by Susan Bain. The concert was titled All Kinds of Everything and that is exactly what it was. The Music ranged from Mozart's Ave Verum, to Goodall's The Lord is my Shepherd (Vicar of Dibley. The choir is small but their voices filled the church, towards the end being joined by the voices of the audience joining in with songs from the shows. The next concert will be on Saturday, April 9, 5.30pm when students from East Sussex Academy of Music, Lewes will be performing for us.

BUILDING WORK: The choir were impressed with the work that has been done in the church. The removal of the pews and reordering of the vestry is now complete, and looking very smart indeed. We will be having a big clean before Easter and hope that we can banish all the dust.

EASTER: There will be a Good Friday service at noon today and our Easter Vigil Service with Easter Fires and the unveiling of our Easter exhibition will be tomorrow (Saturday) at 7pm followed by a bring and share party in the village hall.

EXHIBITION: I will be busy on Saturday as I will be hanging the Easter exhibition, this has to be done in just a day and can be quite hard work. I am expecting some wonderful work, judging from the images I have received from the artists. Look out for the poster with one of Alison Milner-Gulland’s paintings on it. The show will be open at weekends from 11am to 5pm from Easter until May 1.

CRAFTS: Your intrepid Parish Pump reporters hiked down to Stanmer last Sunday to view the craft fair taking place in Stanmer House. There was some wonderful work on show from the Sussex Guild, including one of our particular favourites; woodturner John Plater, who has shown his work here at the village hall and the church many times. His show-stopping piece was a bowl of around a metre high formed from the base of a fallen walnut tree from Stanmer, it was beautiful.
