Shoreham Lifeboat said the team responded to a false alarm this morning (Sunday, April 16).

A spokesperson explaned on Twitter at 11.06am: “Our inshore lifeboat launched on service on Sunday morning to a report of a kite surfer in distress off Lancing. Once on scene, the crew carried out a search of the area but all that was found was a fishing buoy in the location.”

However, Shoreham Lifeboat said the call was made with good intent.
