Families invited to host tea parties to raise funds for NCT

THE NCT (National Childbirth Trust) is appealing to local families to host a Cheeky Monkey's Tea Party this summer.

The charity needs to find over 50,000 to support the set up of a new helpline called, 'Postnatal Line', which will offer mums & dads support to help them through the early stages of parenting.

Anyone can host a Cheeky Monkey's Tea Party including children's centres, businesses, nurseries or schools.

Ideas for party locatioins include BBQ's, picnics in local parks or a cream tea at work.

In addition, the NCT can provide ideas for a party, such quizzes, arts and crafts, and monkey-themed games, which can all be found on the website.

They'll also send a goody bag with balloons and stickers to help the party get off to a good start

Belinda Phipps, the charity's Chief Executive explains why the new helpline is so important:

"Life with a new baby can be an amazing experience. However, for some it can be quite a daunting whirlwind, leaving new parents feeling nervous or lacking in confidence. Our new helpline will be open to all parents so they can call us and get support when they need it most."

Mum Simone Leaver said; "When I had my first son, I was at my wits end. I was very tired and couldn't get him into a sleeping routine. Having an expert to talk to, with a supportive voice at the end of phone, would have helped me a lot.

"I'm hosting a Cheeky Monkey's Tea Party this summer to raise money for a good cause and help other new parents get support during those testing times."

National Family Week is also encouraging families to host a Tea Party throughout the Week from 31 May '“ 6 June.

The NCT is the UK's largest parenting charity. Each year the charity supports hundreds of thousands of parents through a life-changing experience, offering expert information and trusted practical and emotional support.
