The family of a Newhaven woman who has been missing for more than a month have made a desperate plea for information.

Fatima Mohamed-Ali, 52, left her Park Drive Close home on Friday, February 12 leaving her handbag and other personal items at home. There was a sighting of her at 8am in Avis Road but she has not been seen since.

Police have CCTV of Fatima at Denton Corner at this time, heading in the general direction of Newhaven Town Centre, but this is her last known movements.

Her husband Mohamed Mohamed-Ali has made a plea for anyone with information about his wife to get in touch.

He said: “My life is on hold while I wait to hear any news. She has never missed my birthday and we’ve been married for 36 years, this is completely out of character for her.

“I would like people to think and see if they can remember seeing her, it’s a busy road. I really want information about where she’s gone.”

Chief Inspector Rob Leet, district policing commander, said: “Fatima has now been missing for more than a month and we are very concerned for her.

“She has never gone missing before and she left home without a bag, money, keys or it seems, any other personal items. We have conducted extensive enquiries including area searches, viewed many hours of CCTV footage and investigated all the transport options she may have chosen to use.

“This is completely out of character for Fatima, who is Indian, 5’ 2”, of slim build with shoulder-length black hair worn in a ponytail. She is likely to be wearing traditional Indian dress under the beige coat.

“Anyone with information is urged to contact us on 101 quoting Operation Accelerate. If you see her, please dial 999 immediately.”
