Famous Shipley windmill set to close

SHIPLEY Windmill, famous for its links with writer Hilaire Belloc, looks set to close its doors to the public after this season.

Shipley Windmill Charitable Trust and the Friends of Shipley Windmill have announced that the building's landlord will not be renewing the lease.

The windmill, which was also made famous through the television series Jonathan Creek, will open its doors for what is likely to be the last season on April 5.

"As our landlord is not prepared to renew the lease, we have no alternative but to close the mill and hand it back to him in July."
