Fancy footwork earns Felpham pupils double accolade

TWINKLE-toed Felpham students had double the reason to celebrate after they scooped two awards.

Pupils from Felpham Community College have landed an awards double at the regional finals of the UK Rock Challenge contest.

The 40 youngsters from years seven to 12 put together an eight minute theatrical performance as part of the national anti-crime and drugs initiative.

Headteacher, Mark Anstiss, said: “The web and social media have revolutionised the world but they have also brought with them a number of new dangers.

“The students wanted to illustrate this in a way which was relevant and captured the imagination.

“Their performance was outstanding and although they did not make it through to the national finals it clearly impressed the regional judges.”

Their performance used the fairy tale of Little Red Riding Hood to highlight the dangers of meeting strangers through the internet.

Their fancy footwork beat off competition from nine other schools to win awards for video performance and concept and interpretation.

Students were responsible for all aspects of their show.
