'˜Fantastic line-up' of events as late-night shopping returns to Shoreham

This comes as part of the annual Christmas Artisans’ Fayre, which is being held from Friday to Sunday, where guests can enjoy live music, hand-made gifts and a variety of food and drink stalls.

The fayre will run from 4pm to 8pm.

The Marlipins Museum, in High Street, will also be open late to visitors, where a Santa’s Grotto, tombola, hot cider punch and mince pies will be on offer.

Liza McKinney, The Friends of Marlipins Museum honourary secretary, who works closely with the museum’s owners, said: “Over the years the Christmas Fayre has brought a great deal of fun, pleasure and laughter as well as satisfying Christmas present bargain hunters.

“There will be craft stalls offering an exciting variety of hand-carved wooden gifts, beautiful jewellery and other items from scarves to hats to keep out the cold, woollen designs, cards, pottery, glassware and much, much more.”

Saturday will see the Christmas Artisans’ Fayre in Coronation Green from 9am to 5pm and the regular Artisans market in East Street from 9am to 2pm.

Visitors can also head to the Marlipins Museum again for a festive raffle.

This year, the Friends announced that the Sompting Tipteers have agreed to perform their ‘St George and the Turkish Knight’ act at the fayre on Saturday outside the museum, in High Street, at 2.30pm.

The fayre will run through to Sunday, finishing at 4pm.

Councillor Emma Evans, executive member for environment at Adur District Council, said the team have put a ‘great effort’ into organising the Christmas market.

She said: “We have a fantastic line up of activities across the weekend, with choirs and live entertainment to spread some Christmas cheer.

“The combination of late-night shopping and market stalls selling local produce, makes a perfect opportunity to start your Christmas shopping.”

The museum is accepting food donations for its stall, which can be given on Friday, between 10am and 12.30pm.
