Farewell to Lancing newsagent, 99

FORMER Lancing newsagent Doris Forshaw died on March 3 '“ just two months away from her 100th birthday.

Mrs Forshaw and her husband, Harry, opened their first shop at 7 North Road, Lancing, in 1951, in what had been the main post office for for the village.

In the 1960s, two more newsagents' shops were opened at Queens Parade, Lancing, and Seadown Parade at Bowness Avenue, Sompting.

The shops were sold in 1968, and the couple lived for many years on the corner of Crabtree Lane and Grinstead Lane.They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1982. Following her husband's death in 1984, Mrs Forshaw lived on Shoreham Beach, before moving to a flat in Worthing.

She is survived by sons Graham and Keith, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
