Farm shop sees in 30th year with village fun fair event

Swains Farm Shop and Garden Centre in Henfield organised a family fun day to raise money for St Catherine’s Hospice, on Saturday June 14.

The event offered an afternoon of traditional entertainment with all the fun of the fair provided by Harris’s Fun Fair.

The old-time charm of swing-boats, a coconut shy, and other attractions were joined by Johnathan Cann’s Punch and Judy show, captivating visitors of all ages.

Johnathan continued with a riotous magic show while Lisa of Boogie Hoops tirelessly provided entertainment all afternoon.

Many children were smiling as they left with a walking pet balloon or glitter tattoo.

Huxley’s Birds of Prey were on hand with a baby Small Owl and other winged highlights.

Refreshments were provided by the Pizza Oven, The Crumpet Caddy and Downsview Ice Cream. All helping to raise money for the worthy local charity.

Event organiser and manager of the family business, Nina Hills, said: ‘It’s so nice to celebrate thirty years of Swains with a big thank you in the form of this successful charity family fun day.

“Raising £1325 from everyone’s efforts on the day is amazing.”

Swains Farm opened in 1984 by owner Mick Hills.
