AN EVENING of farming nostalgia is on offer at Bishopstone Parish Hall on Saturday April 14 at 7pm.

An illustrated talk by Ian Everest called ‘From the Sussex Ox to the Fordson Major’ - the fascinating story of the use of oxen, horses and steam power on Sussex farms; their impact on the countryside and the modernising of agriculture with the arrival of the first tractors starts the evening.

After a cheese and wine break, the second half will see a showing of a 1950s cine film ‘A year in the life of Manor Farm, Bishopstone’.

Tickets cost £7, which includes refreshments, and are available from Linda’s Stores at Bishopstone Railway Station. Money raised will go to the upkeep of the parish hall.
