Fastest car bid enthralls students

AN ATTEMPT to beat the land speed record was brought to life for pupils and staff at Slindon College.

They were treated to a presentation by a member of the Bloodhound team hoping to create the fastest vehicle on earth.

Ian Glover explained the aim was for the Bloodhound SSC vehicle to smash the current 763mph record achieved in 1997 with a previous supersonic car, Thrust, by reaching 1,000mph.

Ian Graham, the college’s headteacher, said: “This was an amazing and exciting visual presentation that had the audience on the edge of their seats.”

“The Bloodhound education programme mission is to inspire future generations to pursue science, technology, engineering and maths, by showcasing these subjects in the most exciting way possible to schools.”

Mr Graham signed a poster of Bloodhound being taken around schools by Mr Glover.
