Fatal collision in Hankham, Pevensey - man charged by police

A MAN has been charged in relation to a fatal collision at Hankham near Pevensey on January 3 this year.

Bobby Harrison, aged 21, of Chyngton Close, Eastbourne, has been charged with aggravated vehicle taking resulting in death, causing death by dangerous driving and causing death by careless/inconsiderate driving.

He has been bailed to appear at Eastbourne Magistrates’ Court on May 5.

Just after 3am on 3 January police were called to Hankham Road, Hankham, near Pevensey, where a collision had taken place. Vehicle debris was discovered, however the car had left the scene.

Twenty-eight-year-old Aron Taylor of Jevington Gardens, Eastbourne, was ejected from the car during the collision. He was discovered in undergrowth at the side of the road and sadly died.

The car was traced nearby a few hours later and the driver handed himself into police later that day.

A 17-year-old girl from Eastbourne, who was also a passenger in the silver Vauxhall Astra, was taken to hospital with an injured leg. The other passenger, an 18-year-old woman from Eastbourne, was arrested on suspicion of taking a vehicle without consent but was later released without charge.
