He said: “They have looked after me since I came out of the Army with a 40 per cent disability. They are fantastic. They look after people from when their disability starts to their deathbed.”

David, who lives at the family business of the SPR Centre on Fontwell Avenue, was a training instructor corporal in the Wiltshire Regiment for his national service when he suffered the loss of an eye.

“It’s the first time Barrie and I have ever done a parachute jump. It’s about time I put something back into BLESMA and it’s going to be more fun jumping together,” he said. Donations to 01243 542815.
