Fears over Ford prison in tomorrow’s Gazette

The worries have been raised by the area’s MP, Nick Gibb, senior councillors at Arun District Council and residents living near the jail.

It follows the news that almost 90 prisoners – some of them convicted for violent crimes, including murder – remain on the run.

Other news in this week’s paper includes the latest developments on a consultation into the future of the Littlehampton Swimming and Sports Centre.

Also revealed this week is the fresh campaign to fight for a new hospital to be built in Littlehampton, which will be kick-started officially on Saturday (June 21).

And there is also the latest violent crime statistics for the area.
