Brave little Gabby Walkling has had a tough start to her short life. The one-year-old was born three months premature and suffers from cerebral palsy.

However, despite everything, she remains bubbly and full of life and enjoys nothing more than a good tune or two.

So, next month, her uncle Loz Scott is organising a musical bonanza to brighten Gabby’s day and to raise much-needed funds for disability charity Scope, which helps those with cerebral palsy.

Loz, of Timberleys, Littlehampton, has organised an 11-hour feast of live music at the nearby General Henry pub, in Horsham Road.

Loz, 41, said: “You hear about all these charities and conditions but don’t really know about it – about how it can affect people.

“That is until it happens to your family. It’s been hard to deal with for everyone. Gabby was born premature and has had a tough start.

“But she is a lovely little girl. She is really bubbly and full of life. And she loves her music and watching the music channels.”

The gig will take place on Sunday, February 16.

Loz, who works at horticultural site, Humber VHB, in Roundstone Lane, Angmering, explained that he contacted a few bands to see if they were interested. The idea snowballed, with more and more musicians from across Littlehampton, Bognor and Worthing offering their skills to help. So far, 10 acts have pledged their assistance, with Loz admitting that more could be on the way.

“I have been taken aback by the response,” he said, “It’s overwhelming, really.

“I thought I would try and email a few bands to see if they would be interested and it’s just spiralled from there.”

The gig will take place from midday until 11pm.

It will be kicked off by DJ Clive, and will feature a host of acts including Southbeat Beatles tribute band, punk rockers Without Warning and Atombuzz as well as folk musicians Bad Billy Band.

Tickets are £5 per person with funds being donated to Scope.

They can be purchased by visiting www.wegottickets.com and searching ‘Gig for Gabby’.

There will also be a fundraising raffle throughout the day.

Loz is appealing for people to donate gifts for the raffle. For more details on the event, search ‘Gig for Gabby’ on Facebook.
