Felpham and Middleton Horticultural Society's vibrant display

Flowers and produce galore filled a Felpham hall with a vibrant and colourful display.

The annual Felpham and Middleton Horticultural Society's flower and produce show lived up to its name on August 15.

All things horticultural could be seen in St Mary's Centre with added interest coming from the home industries section.

Christine Dunham, the society's publicity officer, said: "All in all, a huge amount of work went into a brilliant show that looked great and was well attended. There were myriad beautiful flower exhibits, exceptional pot plants and cacti.

"And the floral art '“ on the subjects of Reach for the Sky, A Fairytale and a Petite in a Flower Pot '“ was stunning.

"There were numerous fruit and vegetable exhibits of excellent quality and a novelty odd-shaped vegetable class that attracted two exhibits which lived up to its name.

"As usual, the baking and preserves on show were also quite amazing, with handsome jars of marmalade and jams alongside cakes all baked to perfection, including the men's banana loaves. The homemade wines and lemonades definitely looked ready to drink."

The photography section proved difficult to judge because the interesting compositions in its super display were all excellent quality shots.

The craft area was filled with items which required time and effort to produce and created end results which were good to see.

An equally inspiring part of the show was the children's section. Their talents in cake-making, vehicles made from vegetables, collages, miniature gardens, decorative masks and paintings made a truly wonderful display.

The society's president, Les Allatt, presented the trophies and thanked the visitors, exhibitors and all those concerned with running the show for making the day such a success.
